awareness through action

WELCOME TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS
FOR MINORITIES.
"Healing begins with awareness and ends with change."
CAROL RITBERGER
OUR MISSION.
Through MHAM, we hope to start meaningful conversations around healing and emotional wellness within minority groups, including BIPOC, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and residents in low-income communities.
In all of our endeavors, we aim to mobilize the youth in the effort to destigmatize mental health and advocate for equity among all demographics in the context of emotional wellbeing and access to mental health resources.
How can you help bring our vision to reality?
OUR MISSION IN ACTION
At MHAM, we strongly believe that change begins with educating ourselves.
We prioritize collaborative research and dissemination of educational resources on the stigmatization of mental health rooted in the cultures and histories of minority communities.
We also aim to inspire change by doing tangible work within communities affected by mental health struggles.
We do this through donation drives for homeless centers, awareness seminars in low-income communities, leading protests to demand more counseling resources in schools with high Black and Brown populations, and more.
MHAM also supports the research efforts of other mental health related non-profits, such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Mental Health America, and Active Minds.
We will therefore be hosting a variety of fundraising events in order to gather donations to support these organizations.
